Casting Update
Our cast list is not complete.
I am in the excruciating process of going through 51 sets of scheduling conflicts. I need them to determine who can do the partner dancing b/c I don’t want people working with an empty space on the stage. So this kind of synchronization is required now.
We have 51 in the cast. The Chorus will include all types of jobs in a Broadway production: actors, IATSE crew guys, asst. stage managers, rehearsal choreographers & pianists, dressers and seamstresses, runners, script assistants, musicians. I hope you will all feel very involved and as busy as you want to be.
WARNING !! DO NOT REVEAL WHO IS KILLED & WHO ARE THE KILLERS, ESPECIALLY WHEN VIEWING THE CAST LIST AND TELLING FRIENDS ABOUT WHO YOU PLAY IN THE SHOW. EVEN YOUR PARENTS WANT TO BE SURPRISED. THE FUN OF THIS SHOW IS, NOT EVERYONE KNOWS CURTAINS YET. THE AUDIENCE HAS FUN, ESPECIALLY DURING INTERMISSION, DISCUSSING, ‘WHO IS THE MURDERER?’ PLEASE DO NOT SPOIL THE AFFECT OF OUR PRODUCTION BY LEAKING KEY INFORMATION TO THE STUDENT BODY. IT WILL SPREAD LIKE WILD-FIRE. YOU HAVE NOW BEEN WARNED !!
As December rehearsals continue, we will assign understudies for all of the principle roles.
We will have about 3 rehearsals per week in December. We have December vacation OFF. I expect us to master three major musical numbers; assign all harmonies; begin character study; and begin scenic planning.
We will have a parent meeting ASAP to discuss the rehearsals during February vacation and find parent volunteers for marketing & publicity, crews, food, ads for the program and basic support. This show is just as big as SEUSSICAL. We had terrific help from the parents last year. Please discuss with yours how they might be able to contribute.
Monday, December 7th 3:30 to 5:30 – we will hold a Full Cast Choral Rehearsal with Miss Dory.
Tuesday is OFF.
Wednesday, December 9th – 3 to 6PM – We will have a table rehearsal to read-through the play discussing the time period and cultural differences. We also want to hear your questions about the play.
Thursday, December 10th – 3 to 6PM – We will continue the read-through of the play and begin staging “Show People”.
Friday is OFF.
Monday, December 14th 3:30 to 5:30 – we will hold a Full Cast Choral Rehearsal with Miss Dory.
The rest of December will be determined as soon as we’ve processed your conflicts.
